Gill can't remember a time when she didn't paint and draw. She trained as an Art teacher and has followed a career in education. Having developed intrests and skills in a range of media, including ceramics and textiles, she always returns to painting and drawing.
Based in the East Riding Of Yorkshire, Gill finds the local countryside a source of inspiration. She also enjoys travelling and takes many photographs to create a 'sketchbook' of visual references. Her current work is based on the recent places she has visited in recent years and records the landscape and changing seasons, inspired by the effects of light, colour and reflections caught on hillside, woodland and water.
Many of her original works are produced in the unusual medium of 'Prismacolour', a sophisticated colour pencil technique giving a vibrant watercolour effect with high control of closely observed detail. Most recently she has been exploring the use of acrylics to extend her engaging style of vivid naturalism.
